Ground-up Overhaul for the 192 & Avid HD I/O

    FM192

The Black Lion Audio & Requisite Audio Engineering FM192 is a limited-availability, ground-up overhaul of the Digidesign 192 I/O and the new Avid HD I/O.

Originally a custom project for producer Mutt Lange, the FM192 has additionally found a place with several legendary Artist, Engineers and Producers and already seeing action on several major album releases. The new "Alison Krauss with Union Station" album (to be released April 12, 2011) will be the first album to use the FM192 exclusively, from tracking through mixing. Even the two-buss was sent to the FM192 for the mix masters. Mike Shipley (recording and mix engineer for the album) has been incredibly vocal about his FM192's, and says, "I've never heard anything like them. They have completely changed the sound of Pro Tools for me. We put them up against many high-end converters and they won every time." You can hear them for yourself on the upcoming release from Alison Krauss.

The FM192 has been in extensive shootouts in major studios and mastering facilities in Los Angeles. Arguably, the only converters to hold up against the FM192 were the Meitner's, which run between $8600 for 8 channels of A/D and $9700 for 8 channels of D/A. When objectively considered, the sound quality of the FM192 exhibits performance that exceeds the most respected converters available. When considered on a cost per channel basis, the FM192 represents the most outstanding value available today.

Recently, The FM192 graced the pages of the April, 2010 issue of Mix Magazine, where it received a rave review by Grammy Award-winning engineer, Erik Zobler. Please see the "Reviews" tab.

    Ease of Use

The FM192 requires no additional cables, no additional rack spaces, nothing new to learn. Simply use it as you would a standard 192 or Avid HD I/O.

    Ease of Expansion

In the future, if you decide to add additional channels to a modified unit, there is no need to send us the entire unit. Just send your new cards for modification or, we can sell you new cards with the modification already performed. You just plug them in and you are ready to go.

    • Soundfield becomes 3-Dimensional
    • Space around instruments, even with 100+ or more tracks
    • Arrange and Mix in a much more traditional manner
    • No more everything sounding "Forward" or "Flat"
    • Especially good for "Mixing in the Box"

      Process:

    • Send in your existing 192 or New Avid HD I/O
    • We will verify your unit is in proper working order and notify you of any existing problems
    • In the rare event of problems found, we can bring that unit up to standard performance before modification
    • Process typically takes two-weeks, depending on work load
